Dr. Jasmine L. Leigh, Director of Operations and Co-Founder

Jasmine is a public servant, educator, author, speaker, volunteer, and co-founder of The Muse & The Messenger, LLC writing, editing, and consulting firm. With over a decade of experience as an English professor and professional writer, Jasmine is known for her engaging lectures in the classroom and innovative, creative ability to put words on paper. Her keen ability to weave multi-layered messages that engage readers and inspire hearers has opened many doors for her. From University lecture halls, speech writing brainstorming sessions to professional writing workshops, Jasmine is deeply passionate about helping students, public speakers, professionals, business owners, and non-profit organizations craft meaningful, targeted messages that reach readers and hearers in persuasive, purposeful, and powerful ways.

Jasmine is a highly regarded young professional who has earned top recognition for her professional accomplishments. During her over twelve years with the Social Security Administration, Jasmine rose to the post of Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff, where she served on the Acting Commissioner’s speechwriting team, managed high-level agency projects, and supported SSA’s management of a number of White House Executive Orders.  In September 2016, she completed the President’s Management Council Interagency Rotation Program, where she served as an Executive Learning Program Manager at the Department of Energy.  Most notably, Jasmine was named as one of the Daily Record’s 2016 Successful By 40 Very Important Professionals in Maryland, and she was honored to accept a Community Service award from the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc. Jasmine is also pleased to be a member of the American Diabetes Association Young Leaders of Maryland. 

In the world of academia, Jasmine is a self-proclaimed interdisciplinary, lifelong scholar with research interests in African American literature, black feminist thought, and Women’s Studies. Jasmine has served on the faculty at Morgan State University and Coppin State University.  She earned her B.A. in English: Creative Writing from Morgan State University, M.A. in Liberal Studies from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, and Ph.D. in English: African American Literature and Women’s Studies from Morgan State University.

Tiffany R. Nicholson, Creative Director and Co-founder

Tiffany is a writer, executive coach, motivational/public speaker, and advocate.  As co-founder and creative director of The Muse & The Messenger, LLC writing, editing, and consulting firm, Tiffany brings a savvy edge to the writing experience. Her uncanny way with words offers a creative flare through her wittiness and clever approach.

 A creative writer at heart, Tiffany’s love for writing is tucked within her artful prose and poetry.  Many of her writings are greatly influenced by her work as an advocate and activist. It was her passion for women and youth empowerment that opened the door to public speaking. As a motivational and public speaker, she is known for her captivating and descriptive rhetoric-whether at conferences, local schools, or mentoring programs, she leaves her audience in awe of her powerful and persuasive messages.

With nearly twelve years of service within the federal government, she settled in as a writer for the majority of her years with the Social Security Administration. During her tenure, she has served as a writer in both the Office of Legislation and Congressional Affairs and the Office of Public inquiries, in which she focused on correspondence on a congressional and White House level.  Her duty as a writer promoted her to the position of the principal speechwriter for the Acting Commissioner of one of the largest agency’s in federal government. This role offered her many opportunities to develop speeches that involve topics about public policy, community advocacy, excellence in government, transformational leadership, women in leadership, professional development, and women’s empowerment.

Tiffany holds a B.S. in Psychology from Morgan State University, and a M.S. in Counseling Psychology: Practitioner Track from Loyola University Maryland. Drawing on her social science background and her experience in the field of psychology, Tiffany brings a unique ability to connect with people on a deeper level to guide and help them express their thoughts and clearly articulate their message. Serving as an advisor and coach, she assists executives with finding their voice and creating their public speaking presence.
